August 29th 2022 is the 17-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. We remember, we continue to demand justice, and will continue to demand justice until it is achieved.

On Friday, August 12, 2022, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Inflation Reduction Act, sending the bill to President Joe Biden for his signature. There is a lot of nuance around the bill, but to be clear, “the largest piece of climate legislation” does not go far enough to protect Black and Indigenous communities. That said, we understand the need for climate legislation, because if you don’t shape policy, policy will shape you.
